Starting to operate as the service division of S.C. Johnson in 1940, Diversey continued its operations under the name of Johnson Wax Professional after getting separated from the mother company in 1999. Diversey reached its present structure by joining with Unilever's Diversey Lever group which provided cleaning materials and consultancy to professional customers in 2002. Despite being at the standards of corporate firms in terms of business ethics and service quality, Diversey maintains its identity of being a family business which is led by S. Curtis Johnson, third generation grandson of the founder of the company.
