A Bridge from Women to Women "Bıttım Soap" Project is a social entrepreneurship project implemented in cooperation with Diversey and KAGIDER with the support of CATOM (Multi-Purpose Community Centers).
Within the scope of the project it is aimed to bring Bıttım Soap being a Turkish value which has tended to disappear in our culture and in Turkish tourism once again.
In the implementation of this project, providing our women taking part in the project in Mardin and its whereabouts with opportunities of acquiring professions and contributing to the development of the region are included in the major targets.
Oil of Bıttım being a sort of wild pistachio specific to the region is known to particularly nourish and soften the hair as well as being good for the scalp.
However, most of Bıttım Soaps sold in the region are far from being pure and natural, obtained from low quality raw material and are being produced under inadequate hygiene standards.
Diversey established a soap workshop in Mardin to be able to produce this value - which was tending to disappear - at high hygiene standards by sticking to its traditional and natural formula and made all the equipment and raw material investment required for the soap production at the standards targeted. Our women who also received theoretical and applied soap production as well as job security training have turned out to be producing the traditional, natural Bıttım Soap at high hygiene standards with the Diversey guarantee.
These soaps produced in the CATOM workshop by our women, were purchased by Diversey and offered to distinguished hotels and facilities with a special brand name and a package. The company doing business with 80 percent of the 4 and 5 star hotels in Turkey and being the leader in the lodging sector has added Bıttım Soap into the Racine de la Vie portfolio which is currently being sold in these hotels and thanks to this, the company has made use of the sales team of more than 300 persons and the high market penetration.
