Founded in Istanbul in September 2002 as a non-governmental, non-profit organization, KAGIDER determined its vision as “creating a world in which women have an active role in all decision-making processes by producing and displaying their presence freely. Adopting the development of women’s entrepreneurship and reinforcement of their position in social life as its mission, KAGIDER has a board of directors composed of Turkey’s most successful 9 business women. The organization has 124 permanent members and 21 candidate members.
“A Bridge from Women to Women” project is one of the most important projects that the association, which pays great importance on “Entrepreneur Development Programs” among its major activities, has implemented under this roof.
There are numerous projects being carried out by the GAP Administration such as poverty decreasing strategies which unify the economical, social and environmental dimensions of sustainable development, studies regarding encouraging participant approaches and improving capacities as well as overseeing disadvantaged groups and gender perspective in these studies. One of the most important operations carried out in this context is the Multi-Purpose Community Centers (CATOM) project. CATOMs were born from the Action Plan starting point prepared as based on the “Research on Women’s Statute in the GAP Region and Their Integration to the Development Process” being one of the studies carried out and on the Social Action Plan prepared based on the findings of the five primary researches conducted by the GAP Administration between the years 1992 – 94.
We are extending our project by protecting Bıttım trees and proceeding to plant new Bıttım trees. Thanks to cooperation with the government bodies such as Mardin Governorship, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs; and nongovernmental organizations, we are increasing the production amount of Bıttım soap.
